2015 HSA Contribution Limits and Out of Pocket Limits

The 2015 amounts for HSA qualified plans are as follows:

  • Annual contributions to an HSA may not exceed $3,350 for self-only coverage and $6,650 for family coverage (individuals age 55 or older may make additional catch-up contributions of up to $1,000).
  •  The annual deductible for a qualified high-deductible health plan must be at least $1,300 for self-only coverage or $2,600 for family coverage.

The annual out-of-pocket limitations (deductibles, co-payments and co-insurance) may not exceed $6,450 for self-only coverage or $12,900 for family coverage.These annual out of pocket limits also apply to the in-network maximum out of pocket on all ACA compliant plans.

Supreme Court Upholds Affordable Care Act (ACA)- What Now?

The Supreme Court has decided to uphold the ACA.  We will continue to advise you of the things that will continue to impact you going forward in 2013 and then in 2014.   Most recently we advised you of the new change effective 8/1/12 relating to preventative services for women, including birth control at no cost to the member.

2013 HSA limits announced

The maximum HSA contribution limits will increase for all eligible participants. 2013 Annual Maximum Contribution Limits for HSAs:

  • For individuals with self-only coverage under an HDHP, the annual limit on contribu­tions will be $3,250.
  • For those with family coverage under an HDHP, the annual limit on contributions will be $6,450.
  • Those over age 55 can still contribute an additional $1000 per year.

2013 Annual Minimum Aggregate Deductible Limits and maximum out of pocket limits for HDHPs to Qualify for an HSA:

  • For individuals with self-only coverage, the annual minimum deductible is $1,250, and the annual maximum out-of-pocket expense is $6,250.
  • For individuals with family coverage, the annual minimum deductible is $2,500, and the annual maximum out-of-pocket expense is $12,500.

Our new JME web app allows you to quickly contact us from your IPhone, IPad, or Android style phone/notepad.

From your IPhone or IPad click on the following link:

http://webapp.jmeinsurance.com  or surf to our web site www.JMEinsurance.com and click on the FREE JME WEB APP button at the top of the page.

After the screen opens in your web browser, you can then select the send tool which allows you to add our app button to your home screen. This will then create an app button on your phone so you can easily access our agency.

From an Android based phone or notepad, click on the link above and do the following to create the app:

  1. Bookmark the page
  2. Open the browser “bookmarks” screen
  3. Long-press the JME bookmark
  4. Select “Add to Home screen”

With this app you can:

  • Call our office by selecting the phone symbol (this currently does not work on IPad, since phone service is not available on IPad)
  • Email our office by clicking the mail envelope button
  • Quote and/or apply for an individual policy with BCBSTX.  We recommend the HSA compatible BlueEdge plan for premium savings and value.
  • Setup a Health Savings Account with HSA Bank if you do not have one and are on a health savings account compatible plan

BCBSTX Announces New Child-Only Coverage Policy

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) announces the launch of a new child-only health insurance policy, Blue Pathway.  This new product will provide coverage for children age 1 through 18 when the child is the primary insured.  Beginning on July 15, individuals interested in Blue Pathway can find complete information at bcbstx.com/bluepathway.  They may also call Customer Service at 800.531.4456. The enrollment period will run July 15, 2011 through September 15, 2011 with the first possible effective date being August 1.  Eligible applicants are not required to qualify medically for coverage, however the applicant’s medical history is considered when determining the premium rate.  Those already covered with the TX Health Risk Pool and Medicaid may find these current options to be lower cost than Blue Pathway.
